«The Big Kazan» units over 1.7 million people, accounting for 43% of the population of the republic

A round table discussion on the strategic development of the Kazan agglomeration took place at the Kazan Executive Committee. Representatives of the Executive Committee and neighboring municipalities discussed issues such as population migration and related transportation challenges, the development of district infrastructure, creating new jobs to balance the workload across the area, quality water supply and sanitation issues, tourism opportunities within the agglomeration, and priority areas for cooperation. The meeting participants agreed that the development of the Big Kazan required joint efforts and requires holding regular meetings in the future to analyze sectoral and regional problems and find solutions together.

«The processes of growth and development take place regardless of administrative borders. The suburban area of Kazan is expanding and will continue to grow,» - said Alexey Gorbunov, director of the Kazan Development Institute. He emphasized the need to develop these areas evenly, providing them with necessary infrastructure and enhancing their economic attractiveness.
