Rustem Gafarov: «The safety is the crucial issue at all festive events»

Over 900 police officers will be ensure security during the New Year holidays in Kazan

Over 900 police officers will ensure the safety of citizens at New Year and Christmas events in Kazan. Russina National Guard will also be involved for the same purpose. Rinat Gabitov, Head of the Police Department for the city of Kazan, announced this at the Business Monday meeting.

«We have prepared the city for the New Year holidays. Festive sites have been opened, parks, squares, and streets have been decorated. A rich festive program has been prepared. There is everything to experience the festive atmosphere and enjoy spending these holidays with family and friends. The safety is the crucial issue at all events», – said Rustem Gafarov, Head of the Executive Committee.

During the holidays, the total number of police officers on duty will be over 900 people. As many as 253 police officers will ensure safety on New Year's Eve, and 187 on Christmas Day.

Rinat Gabitov, Head of the Police Department for the city of Kazan, also reported that the main venues of the festive events would be inspected in advance with the involvement of dog handlers and technical means.

«In order to prevent traffic accidents, especially involving children, additional posts of traffic police officers are provided at the locations of festive sites», – reported the head of the Police Department for the city of Kazan.

On January 6-7, metal detectors will be installed in front of the entrances to Orthodox churches during Christmas services to ensure the safety of believers.
