About 11 thousand people will run the 2020 Kazan marathon. The mass race will be held on October 10 and 11. Together with the citizens, members of government, Russian celebrities, and famous athletes will take part in it.
Traditionally, marathon participants will run one of the following distances: 3 km, 10 km, 21.1 km and 42.2 km. The route will pass along the city’s landmarks: the Central stadium of Kazan, the Kaban Lake embankment, Millennium park and the Kremlin. A separate 600-meter Timerkids race and a toddler race are planned for young athletes.
This year, Kairat Boranbayev, head of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Alexey Smertin ex-captain of the Russian National football team and a fan of long-distance running and took part in many marathons worldwide, Rinas Akhmadeev, Tatarstan track and field athlete, champion and medalist of competitions of various levels and many others will take part in the marathon.
The event will strictly follow the recommendations of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights, Tatarstan Ministry of sports’ Press Office reports.
Part of the funds received from the slots will be used to support the Ronald McDonald house – a free family hostel for families whose children undergo long-term treatment at the Children's Republican Clinical Hospital.
